Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity updates:

  • As of May 1, 2023, Pioneer Valley Habitat is no longer tracking the vaccination status of staff and volunteers. All staff and volunteers are strongly encouraged to stay up to date on their Covid-19 vaccinations. A new version of our Covid-19 worksite policy was approved to reflect these changes.
  • PVHH may schedule opt-in “vaccinated only” work days on the construction sites at the request of volunteers. No more than 1-2 work days per job site will be designated as “vaccinated only” per week. This is to accommodate volunteers who prefer to work with other vaccinated volunteers only. Participating volunteers represent that they are up-to-date on Covid-19 vaccinations, as defined by the CDC at the time of the build day.
  • The office is still closed to the public, except by appointment. Please call (413-586-5430) or email.

Letters from our Executive Director

June 21, 2021

Dear Habitat Community,

The sun is shining today and things are starting to look a bit brighter. The state of Massachusetts lifted all Covid-19 restrictions on May 29, 2021 and ended the state of emergency on June 15th. Cases of Covid-19 in Hampshire and Franklin counties are low and declining. Our hope is that with increased vaccination these trends will continue.

We have become very flexible in the last year – learning to meet on Zoom, adapting our construction policies for safety, and working with one another to be caring and responsive. While we miss in-person meetings and gatherings, many of our committees continue to meet via Zoom for convenience and inclusivity.

Our construction policy for volunteers has been updated and no longer requires masks for outdoor work, but does require that all on-site construction volunteers be vaccinated. We are starting a new construction project in Pelham with the same regular volunteers that have continued building through the pandemic but hope to open up the construction schedule to individual community volunteers and groups on a limited basis as we cautiously navigate the re-opening landscape. We will continue to update you here as we have new information and policies.

Thank you for walking this road with us one step at a time. We will continue to take a thoughtful, thorough approach to ensure that community members feel safe as they return to (or continue) volunteering.

In gratitude,

Megan McDonough, Executive Director
